Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is What Comes Next?

What Comes Next is a safe, carefully held online community for women who have experienced domestic abuse. It's a space to connect with others who truly understand, share honestly, and begin to explore what the next chapter of life might look like — at your own pace, with no pressure.

    Who is it for?

The community is for women who have experienced domestic abuse, at any stage of their journey — whether you're still finding your feet or further down the road. You don't need to have everything figured out to be here.

    Who runs it?

What Comes Next was founded by Jess Robson. Jess hosts the community, facilitates the weekly Sunday Circle peer support sessions, and is the main point of contact for anything you need.

  • How do I join?

You can apply to join at whatcomesnext.uk/community. The application takes just a few minutes, and someone will be in touch shortly after.

    Does it cost anything?

Membership is £6 per month, processed through the Circle platform. You can cancel at any time with no obligation and no questions asked. This small contribution keeps the community running and makes it possible for us to offer free places to women who need them.

What if I can't afford the membership fee?

That's absolutely okay - there are no barriers to being here. We offer free places in the community, and for every four paying members we welcome, one free spot opens up. If you're unable to pay, you'll be added to a waitlist and contacted as soon as a place becomes available. Nobody will ever be turned away because of money.

Do I have to use my real name?

No. You are welcome to use a first name only, a nickname, or any name you feel comfortable with. Your safety and privacy come first.

  • What spaces are inside the community?

The community has a few different spaces. There's a space to share — where you can post questions, ask for advice, or talk through something that's on your mind. There's also a resource library, built by members, where you'll find tools, articles, templates, and signposting that others have found helpful. More spaces may be added as the community grows.

Can I just read without posting?

Absolutely. You never have to post or contribute anything. You're welcome to simply be here, read, and take what's useful. There is no pressure to share anything before you're ready.

    What is the Sunday Circle?

The Sunday Circle is a weekly online peer support session hosted by Jess. It's a small, warm, low-pressure space to check in, be heard, and connect with other members. You can find dates and how to join in the events section of the community.

How do I access the community?

The What Comes Next community runs on a platform called Circle, which is available as a desktop website and as a mobile app - so you can access it from wherever feels comfortable.

  • Is what I share kept private?

Yes. What is shared inside the community stays inside the community. Members agree not to screenshot, copy, or share anything posted by another member outside of this space. Please read the community guidelines for full details.

What if I'm worried about my safety or someone else's?

This community is a place of peer support - it isn't a crisis service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact the police on 999 or the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247 (free, 24/7). If you have a concern about another member's safety, please flag it to a moderator privately and we will follow up.

What if someone breaks the community guidelines?

The guidelines exist to keep everyone safe. If you witness behaviour that goes against them, please report it to a moderator. Any member found to be in serious breach — particularly around privacy, harassment, or sharing identifying information — will be removed from the community.

  • Who do I contact if I have a question or a problem?

You can reach Jess directly at jessica@whatcomesnext.uk. Whether it's a technical issue, a question about membership, a suggestion, or a concern — all messages are read and taken seriously.

What if I want to leave?

You can leave and cancel your membership at any time through the Circle platform. If you'd like to talk it through first, you're always welcome to reach out.
