You carry a world in you that doesn’t exist yet.

What Comes Next is for women rebuilding after domestic abuse — not the crisis, but what comes after. The part where you start to wonder who you are now, and what you're allowed to want. Here you'll find a community of women who get it, because they've been there too. And when you're ready to take a step forward - however small - our grants are here to help you on that journey.

A bit about me

I'm Jess, and I started What Comes Next because I noticed a gap. There's crisis support for women during the critical period of leaving abuse — but navigating the months and years that follow requires support too.

For me, the other side of an abusive relationship included me founding a successful mental health non-profit — Run Talk Run — and running marathons around the world, none of which I could have imagined at my lowest point.

A few years ago, I got WHAT COMES NEXT tattooed on my arm as a reminder of that. I want every woman who lands here to feel that same quiet confidence in what's ahead. I can't wait to see what the world inside her turns out to be.

What are we here to do?

Right Now

Building community & support

We provide a safe, carefully held online community for women who have experienced domestic abuse. It's a space to connect with others who truly understand, share honestly, and begin to explore what the next chapter of life might look like - at your own pace, with no pressure.

What’s Coming

Funding fresh starts

We're working toward providing women with the tangible tools they need for their next chapter - whether that's a pair of running shoes, access to therapy, a place on a writing course, or whatever helps them rediscover who they are. Every woman should have the resources to decide what comes next.

Get Involved

Your story matters: We want to hear from women who've survived domestic abuse and found their way forward - whether you rediscovered a love of watercolours, launched a business, or found yourself through something entirely different.

Become a partner: We're looking for organisations to help create pathways for women rebuilding their lives - race organisers who can donate places, online therapy, course providers, business mentors, creative studios. If you can help open doors, we want to work with you.
